Royal Staffordshire Pottery Wilkinson King George V Toby Character Jug. One of the Eleven Wilkinson Commemorative Toby Jugs, England, c. 1915-20, after designs by Sir Francis Carruthers Gould, each molded figure enameled and depicting political and military leaders during World War I, including Marshall Foch, President Woodrow Wilson, General Botha, Lord French, General Joffre, H.M. King George V, Lord Kitchner, Admiral Beatty, Rt. Hon. D. Lloyd George, Admiral Jelicoe, and Field Marshal Haig, printed factory mark and signature, ht. 9 1/2 to 11 3/4 in.
King George V seated on his lion flanked throne holding the fate of the world in his hands in classic blue and white. This large Toby Jug measures approximately 12" in height. Marked, "1919 Copyright. Royal Stafforshire Pottery- Wilkinson Ltd. England Ro No. 644985. Carruthers Gould- Exclusive to Soane & Smith Ltd. 462 Oxford Street. London W.I." This is part of the Wilkinson Tobies. This 94 year old extra large toby jug is in surprisingly good condition with no chips just a base hairline/firing glaze line that does not go through to the interior. Very Rare Color usually found Polychromed.
